The Sinch Forum is back! It looks a lot different but all posts and users were imported from the old forum so everything should be right where we left it.

The donation thing is cool, but it's got it's detractors...

    http://frontlines.machinehead1.com/index.php?showtopic=5063

I say start up a hilarious and epic innanetz war and drum up a bit of free publicity for the new album...

That dude has way too much pent-up anger. I think he needs to get laid. Don't worry about what he says, you guys are awesome. And we definitely asked to give you money, so you guys aren't begging.
  • MARK%21MARK! February 2009
hmm.. i don't see why we are bothering to read what some douche on the forum of some lame metalcore band is saying anyways.

In essence all we are doing is chosing how much we want to pay for the new album, the same way Radiohead chose to sell their album..... so does that make radiohead beggars too? The only difference is the fans get additional rewards for spending more money, which is comparable to NIN who seems to have about 5 versions of all their new albums with their super duper ultra collectors editions costing a few hundred dollars a go.
So somehow its begging to bypass the middle man so that the money actually goes to the people making the music? is this because this douche would rather the majority of the profit still went to roadrunner so that they could continue to pump the dollars into nickelback and machine head and all their overhyped metalcore shit?

    funny stuff.

    That's a good point, dude.

I think we've wasted enough time and words on that guy. Neither Sinch nor any of us have to justify anything to that guy. This donation thing seems to be working pretty well for us and the band so far. We get the immediate satisfaction of knowing that we had hand in getting music from a band we love recorded and some perks to be received later. The band gets funds to put towards the recording of the music that they love to make and want to share with us. It's way better for both sides than us handing over money to some record label for a CD, so that Sinch can make a couple bucks.
  • tommitommi February 2009
    That guy's a dick.

    I still haven't donated, though, so I guess I'm a dick too.

I'm going for the gold level. I don't have the means for more than that, although I'd love the exec. producers credit ;)
  • MARK%21MARK! February 2009
i still haven't donated either... only because i've been in canada 6 months now and still haven't found a job

I googled jobs in Canada and found this website for it. Maybe it'll help.

    http://www.jobsincanada.com/

If you need help with your resumé or anything, I could try to help you with that, too.

    "tommi":

It would definitely be awesome to be credited as the executive producer. Unfortunately for Sinch, I'm not rich and I'm guessing the rest of you guys aren't either. I got my tax return back, so I put myself up in the gold level with it. I doubt I'll be able to donate much more than that, though.
  • MARK%21MARK! February 2009
ah.. i have applied for a fair few jobs.

I was lazy at first because I was promised my old job witrh a "working from home" agreement. But unfortunately I was working for governement and as my new position was getting signed off, our state goverment got kicked out of power because they were all mafia or something like that and the first thing the new Premier did was put a freeze on all new government employment because of the economic crisis. which blows cause the idea of working from home for an employer on the other side of the world really appealed to me.
i had an interview the other week just before i went to florida, and i may have one next week so its not the end of the world and hopefully that'll mean a sinch donation soon ;)

I have a job, but it looks like I might lose it or at least get laid off for a few months so money's going to be tight for me, too. I should probably donate while I still have something...

I don't mean to cock-block on Sinch donations, but if you think you might lose your job you should probably hang on to all the money you can. You never know how long you could be out of work.

That guy was just looking to start an argument. It's more fun to mess with people who play along. Kind of like when Mark's mom plays along when I pretend that she's a hooker that owes me money. Way more fun when both parties are in on the thing.
  • Satan+McBaconSatan McBacon February 2009

I've got decent savings. Plus I'm in the union, so the union will pay me something like 70-80% of my salary for the first six months I'm unemployed. And my parents are doing pretty well, too, so I can always just mooch off them. I'll be fine.

But I won't have extra cash. Now I do. Might as well donate now. Or soon, anyway.
  • dandan March 2009
I never got the confirmation email from that forum. I really wanted to talk to that guy. Not to defend ourselves or anything like that, but just to try to figure out what his deal is.

I'm glad no one seems to agree with him, but I don't see how anyone could... his argument doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

It makes him sick to his stomach that our fans are giving us money in exchange for a new album and a whole bunch of cool stuff... instead of doing it how real bands do it, by going on on the road and having their fans give them money in exchange for their albums and a bunch of other cool stuff.

Seeing that he's a Machine Head fan, I guess he's more into giving money to Roadrunner Records than to the bands he listens to.
  • I'm thinking that maybe he thought the original link came from Blabbermouth or some other news site, and not Sinch.net. I'm a regular poster there and that guy has said other douchey stuff too, so i guess you can just write it off as him being a moron...

If you still wanted to speak to him, you could email the webmaster and ask him to confirm your registration from his side (or work whatever magic you webmasters wield)... mike@machinehead1.com
  • as someone who has met people in the band personally and have family that has known the band since their roots....i can't tell you how much i want to e-smack that guy. little does he know that all the members of the band are VERY familiar with the term "day job" and "working for it" they all have jobs and relationships and at least one i know of has a kid. seriously, whats up this guys ass? i think he needs to listen to 'Bitmap' in my car (with highly upgraded sound system) and try to tell me that shit isn't a life-changing experience.

fuck that guy. i didn't get my confirmation email either. and i bet that metalcore band sounds just like every other metalcore band there ever was.

    Wigger please.

There's no substitute to actually listening to a band yourself and making your own opinion on the music. Load up any MH song on your AssFM, then line up some Killswitch Engage afterwards. Do you see? Chuck on another MH song, then a As I Lay Dying track. Do you see?

Lets stop the retardation, people. I'd be crying if i wasn't

Do I see? yes i do "see" a difference, they have different photos. But in terms of listening for a difference there was very little separating them
  • Sounds like you fail at metal then. :P

What songs did you listen to?

    Do you see?

I was trying to be Francis Dollarhyde in Red Dragon :?
  • MARK%21MARK! March 2009
i didn't actually listen to any. i've been subjected to the entire machine head discography since burn my eyes came out thanks to a sibling who made a poor choice in cd purchasing.
  • So, you didn't even try? :(

Way to imply that you did.

    Fail.

Wait, are you just trolling? If you've heard the discography of MH, then this discussion is (more)pointless (that i original thought), since you've heard Burn My Eyes, The More Things Change, The Burning Red, Supercharger.
  • MARK%21MARK! March 2009
You made an assumption a few posts back that i'd never listened to Machine Head
  • Educated guess. Since you referred to MH as metalcore and/or shitty :P

This shit's going round in circles, i'm off to go get crunk'd.

I've listened to Machine Head. I've heard The Burning Red and later one that you recommended because you said the rest of their stuff doesn't sound like The Burning Red. I didn't like either of them.

    2. How to play the guitar
    3. What a time signature is

How the F*** can you call Machine Head METALCORE?!?! Have any of you even listened to them properly? Take one listen to "Old" and tell me that's metalcore. And after you do do this I predict you and I are gonna have another long cyclic argument about what constitutes metalcore. You know what the problem here is? You guys don't listen to enough heavy music.

We are indeed, Razor. But, they're only trolling because the sheer faceripping heaviness of Machine Head scares them.

Check this out, MH are on tour with Metallica, and this was posted on the MH board yesterday:

Metallica is shitty these days too, so it's only fitting.

And goddamn, Hetfield just keeps losing respect every time I see him or hear from him these days. He used to be cool, now he looks like he should be a Limp Bizkit roadie. Or a Fred Durst groupie.
  • dandan May 2009
This has been posted before but this pretty much sums up Metallica for me these days:

  • ^ That pic always brings the lolz

You guys need to catch Metallica live again. They've got the fire back, and their setlists are fucking drool-inducing. They played Dyers Eve and Outlaw Torn the other night in Stuttgart, closed to show with Motorbreath.

Say what you want about the latest recorded material, but they're still a top-tier live band.
