The Sinch Forum is back! It looks a lot different but all posts and users were imported from the old forum so everything should be right where we left it.
Obviously, the forums have been updated to fit into the new site design. Some things still might be weird but everything looks good so far. Let us know what you think, and obviously if you find anything wrong please let us know.
As you may know we are working on a complete redesign of Sinch.net. Coincidentally, a completely new version of PHPBB is being released soon so we figured we might as well upgrade and redesign the forums at the same time.
So far I've just done the upgrade, but it's up and running and we'd love to have some of you test it out and let us know what you think.
It's using the default theme right now, which doesn't match the site at all, so don't worry about that too much. But we will probably create our own theme based on the default... just changing colors and certain buttons and stuff like that. So the layout and everything will probably stay pretty close to what you see now.
Keep in mind that even though the new forum contains all the posts from this one, they aren't linked in any way. So don't expect anything you do there to have an effect here. For example, if you change your password there, it will still be the old password here.
Feel free to post feedback here if you have trouble logging in or something, but try to keep everything on the new forum, just so it's all in one place.
Personally, I really like the overall design of the new version. Obviously the colors are wrong, but a lot of thought went into the new interface (especially on the backend). it might take a while to get used to, but there are so many improvements I can't see any good reason to stay with this version.
Outwardly I can't tell the difference (I'm not a very superficial person ) but I'm sure functionality-wise it's wayyyyy better. Change the colours and BAM - an instantly likeable new forum design. Nice.
I have no beef with the new forum outside of the colors. I can't really see a different either, but I'll take your word for it that it's better.
The difference is mostly on the back end... all the admin options and stuff.
But there's also little things... the fact that there's a reply button at the top, the View unanswered posts / View new posts / View active topics feature, attachments to posts, the pagination links, etc... I do this kind of stuff every day so I guess I notice it more.
