The Sinch Forum is back! It looks a lot different but all posts and users were imported from the old forum so everything should be right where we left it.

i became a member of this site a pretty damn long time ago and then i went on holiday just after making my account, and then i kinda forgot i was a member after i came back.

anyway, i have an idea... unless it's already been done on here. i think it would be awesome if there was an instrumental (eg. An Author For An Authority) that fans could have the chance to write their own lyrics/vocal melody to, just to show how different people are affected by the music alone and the ideas it provokes.

Why hasn't anyone commented on this idea yet? I think it's a freakin' great idea...
  • tsnuftsnuf April 2007
sorry Razor, but you asked that question 11 minutes after he posted :P give everyone a break!

    I personally wouldn't be too interested but that's because I can't sing

    That's a pretty interesting idea.

I'm not sure we'd write an entire new song just for this purpose, but there might be a way to do it. Once we get into the recording of the new album, we could probably let everyone hear one of the songs without vocals on it, and see what everyone comes up with. It would be something you've never heard before so there's no chance of being influenced by the actual vocals on the track.

We'd have to talk more about it but it's definitely something we'll keep in mind.

I actually had a similar idea recently. I was thinking that we take a song that we're having trouble with and record a couple different variations... whether it's arrangement or lyrics or whatever... and let you guys vote on which one you like the best. Sort of a songwriting by committee type thing. It would pretty much be an experiment, with no guarantee that we'd release the finished song, but I just thought it would be an alternative to throwing out a song that we can't seem to agree on or finish or whatever.

Sounds like fun. I'd be down.

I think that sounds like fun, too. I'd be happy to share my opinion on stuff.

That's pretty awesome that people seem to like my idea. I realize that there'd be no guarantee you'd use the finished product, but i meant as an arty way of connecting with fans, you seem to already do a lot of that though. I don't think I've ever seen a band as in touch with their fans as Sinch are.

Dan's idea sounds really good, I'd be happier doing that than my idea, mainly because I can't sing and because I'm not usually happy with my lyrics.

Listening to the music of Sinch without vocals is still very powerful and has a lot of feeling and emotion in it, so if it was possible, I'd love to hear different peoples takes.

Both of those are pretty cool ideas, but it's treading on dangerous waters.

Cold did something really similar a few years ago. I'm not sure how many people here like Cold, but after their S/T and 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage, they did some shit where they let their fans vote on what kind of songs they liked the most. I don't know if it was new demos or old songs, and unfortunately the majority of fans became fans because of that piece of shit song Cold did with Aaron Lewis of Staind. So they released that crap that Weezer cowrote and it was all downhill.

They might have already been on the way down but it was just sad to see. These ideas don't seem like Sinch would be giving up control so that's good.

Here's a related topic too, does anybody remember this: http://www.sinch.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=417

I remember that. I also remember how time consuming it was and why I never did one. I'll add it back onto my list of things I want to do, but probably won't do because I'm lazy.

    mexicans...

I don't think we'd take it as far as it sounds like Cold did. It would probably be the kind of song where we're already happy with the different variations... we're just not sure which is the best one. We'd never release something that we didn't like just because everyone voted on it.

Honestly the Cold thing sounds more like it was someone from the marketing department's idea. When you let the fans vote on the whole album, it just seems more like a way to try and sell more albums by finding out which songs people are willing to buy ahead of time.

I really Like this idea, and that's because I keep myself thinking that I can sing.
but seriously, Sinch is 1 of the band's I'll always listen to. maybe in periods but still and I've been in bands since I can remember, but this idea is the thing I've been dreaming of since I've heard sinch s/t album.

man I've never met people who love their fans as these guys do. I'm from the Netherlands and I had the honor of meeting them in Doylestown last year and I felt the honesty right away!

TO THE SINCH DUDE'S: thanks again for the guitar tabs I got through Dan and Tony. I still play the song everyday ;)
