The Sinch Forum is back! It looks a lot different but all posts and users were imported from the old forum so everything should be right where we left it.
  • Has anybody sent you guys any videos made through the Lividtron application off Clearing The Channel?
I never got a chance to play around with it back in NZ, but I plan to give it a go once I get myself a laptop. I would mine seeing some other interpretations and whatnot.
Maybe you could mention it in a SinchCast, maybe even have a competition for the best fan video...
  • If you can save your mixes then I never knew, but I'm pretty sure its just made for playing around with.

I was actually just going to ask a question about this. Who wrote Lividtron?

I did all the programming if that's what you mean.

And no, there isn't any way to save your mixes. I guess technically you could do a video screen capture or something and then crop it down, but that would be a huge pain in the ass.

I'd love to add that functionality, but I'm not sure it's possible without totally rewriting it in some other language. One way to do it is to save all the editing data instead of the mixed video itself, if that makes any sense. Basically it would record all the positions of the faders and video channels over time and then play everything back within the program itself. But that's a lot of extra code that I need time to figure out.

I have a lot of other ideas for the next version too. And if anyone is good with Actionscript 2.0 and wants to contribute, I'd be open to collaborating on something. It also uses a program called Zinc (formerly Flash Studio Pro) which can add a lot of functionality that's not built into Flash (local filesystem access, etc.) so there's some pretty cool stuff you can do.

The main thing I want to do is add the ability to easily add more videos and music. So we can release new "packs" or whatever that you could just drop in. Or you could even put your own videos/songs in as well.

    That's awesome.

Before the cd came out and that was announced, I was going to write something like that for my Senior Project because I thought it would be cool to make a little homemade sinch concert. But now I have to think of something else.
  • One thing I would like to see in the next version is being able to control the faders from the keyboard as well as the clips. Using a mouse is kind of clumsy. Too bad there aren't really any suitable keys for that. The only thing I could think of would be selecting a certain fader with a certain key and then using the arrow keys to move the fader.

That was something I wanted to put in, but never got around to it. There's a couple ways of doing it... I was thinking maybe using the scrollwheel to actually move the faders and have keys correspond to each fader so you can switch back and forth. But then you can only do one at a time... whenever I get around to working on it again, I'll see what I can do.
