What Have You Been Watching?
  • ColersColers July 2005
Well it seems that "What are you watching" doesn't work, because no one ever says what they're actually watching. Soooo...here's a thread for stuff you've seen recently, or maybe what you wanna see.

Yeah it's the same exact thread.

Well I just watched Second Hand Tigers and I really liked it. I'm not sure if that makes me a vag or not, but that movie was really good. Definitely worth watching with parents/girlfriend/man ass friend for Rob.

Is War of the Worlds worth watching?
  • Just watched 'Without a Paddle' and, hmmm....no further comment.....

I want to see Dead Birds because I've been hearing good stuff about it. Also the tv series 'taken' is just starting here. It looks ok. Has anyone seen it and can tell me if it's worth watching?
  • AerockAerock July 2005
I haven't seen Taken but I have seen Deadbirds. Deadbirds is interesting. It has some really creepy moments, and it will keep you kind of anticipating what will happen to whom, but it doesn't have much in the "this is how it happened" department. You just have to accept everything at face value with it.
  • KiljaedenKiljaeden July 2005
Taken bored the hell out of me last night. I think, just showing the start may be it but it was all bullshit about military perspective and such. Not really interesting IMO.
  • ColersColers July 2005
Now I'm watching Blazing Saddles Loooooove it.
  • RCSoulRCSoul July 2005
    Fantastic Four
Nothing fantastic about it. A bunch of TV actors trying to carry a poorly conceived script. It was doomed before they even began.

    War of the Worlds
It was very different from the original (outside of the ending which was basically the same). I still enjoyed it, though. I had no idea that Tim Robbins was in this movie. It was a pleasant surprise.

This weekend, I'll probably see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I'd like to see The Wedding Crashers, too, but I probably won't until next week. I can't remember a summer where there were so many movies that I wanted to see.
  • AerockAerock July 2005
I'm seeing both Wedding Crashers and Charlie this Friday.
  • ColersColers July 2005
    Yeah...

I'm gonna get as stoned as possible and see Chocolate Factory, while eating tons of candy. I couldn't be more excited.
  • War of the Worlds pissed me off. the foreshadowing wasn't so bad though.
  • RCSoulRCSoul July 2005
    Old School
I love this movie. One of my favorite comedies.
  • RCSoulRCSoul July 2005
    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
This movie was very strange and very different from the original. I left the movie feeling awkward.
  • KiljaedenKiljaeden July 2005
    Sin City
Fucking brilliant movie. Definately see this!

    House of Wax
Fucking pathetic movie. Don't see this! Well unless you like Elisha and want to see Paris die. The makeup and props are cool too. But pathetic acting and story.
  • tommitommi July 2005

    "Kiljaeden":

Most people I know fall into that category...
  • AerockAerock July 2005
I thought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was awesome. I liked it a lot more than the original. In the original, every character is a douchebag. In this one, I liked all the characters.

The make-up crew should have made up Helena Bonham Carter so she looked more like Marla Singer. The world would be a better place.
  • SkinticketSkinticket July 2005
I REALLY want to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but it doesn't come out before october over here. How stupid is that?!? Last thing I saw, was Futurama season 2. NICE!
Last movie I saw was the Anchorman. Hahaha, Brick is fucking awesome! "I don't know why we're yelling! LOUD NOISES!"

    I pooped a hammer.
  • RaZoRRaZoR July 2005
Hey I watched Deadbirds too... I thought it was really cool how they made a geniunely creepy movie with such a low budget, rather than some crappy wannabe rip-off which is so common nowadays... There were so many scenes where I knew what was gonna happen but jumped out of my seat when it happened anyway (Like the scene with the little girl in the room)... Or maybe that's because I watched it alone at 2 in the morning... Anyway the ending was strange and gets you going WTF?? but in a good way... All in all cool movie...

BTW anyone watched the Amityville Horror? What a disappointment... The only scary bit in the movie were the last 30 secs... What were they thinking casting Ryan Reynolds in a horror movie? I mean I'm a HUGE fan of the guy, but I just can NOT take him seriously... After watching him in "2 Guys and a Girl" no matter how convincing his acting was in the movie I couldn't help but remember one of his funny one-liners and laugh... I'm sure hes a great actor and all but he should stick to funny roles... Like in Blade:Trinity, where he was kick ass and hilarious at the same time... And man has he buffed up his bod or what? Damn...

It was just as disappointing as the original.

    Hide And Seek
Trash. DeNiro is done. When was the last time he was in a good movie? 10 years ago?

    Runaway Jury
This movie is awesome and it has a stacked cast. Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, John Cusack, that chick from the Mummy whose name I always forget.

    The Neverending Story
I don't care what anyone says, this movie is awesome. However, bands who name themselves after characters in this movie are lame. Let me start a band named Falcore. Or Racing Snail. Gay. So is wearing pink makeup.

I rented Million Dollar Baby, but I haven't watched it yet.
  • Lately I've really only seen Anchorman. That was pretty fucking funny...

Mostly I've been stuck on Entourage. I hate waiting the week between episodes but I've also fallen in love with On Demand since I missed the past two episodes cuz I was away and was able to watch them both tonight. Fuck the Unabomber... Technology rules... Except for Skylab, that sucks...

I liked City by the Sea and 15 minutes was OK, but not counting them, he did Ronin in 98 and Cop Land and Jackie Brown in 97...

Exactly 10 years ago he did star in two really good movies though (Casino and Heat) so if you don't like any of the above, 10 years is probably quite true for you.

Those are the last movies that I saw with him that I thought were good. I haven't seen City By The Sea, but I don't have high hopes for it.

That chick's hot. She's in Constantine, which I just watched this past week. That's one of my new favorite movies.
  • ZideredZidered July 2005
Saw War of the Worlds, which was disappointing due to the lack of original music. Lost a lot of the tension, I thought.

Also recently caught The Machinist, which was good but not as much of a mind-fuck as I'd have hoped.

Nothing much that I hope to see coming up really but maybe something will pop out of nowhere.

    Searching For Bobby Fischer
This is one of my favorite films. I watch it every time it's on television. I'm not even sure why I like this movie so much. After all, it's about a chess player. Chess isn't very exciting. This movie isn't very exciting. But, it's very warm and heart-felt. Yeah, I'm a big pussy.

    E.T.
I love this movie, as well. I still get teary-eyed when E.T. gets sick, if you need more evidence that I'm big pussy.
  • RaZoRRaZoR July 2005
Well I just watched the movie Spanglish... Man the Mexican chick in that is SO FUCKING GORGEOUS!!! And Adam Sandler and Tea Leoni are in it too so you know it's a great movie... I totally recommend this movie to anyone whos looking for an amazing and touching movie... I think the girl's name is Paz Vega and once again... WHOA... She kinda looks like Penelope Cruz but WOW...

Also anyone watched Madagascar? Holy shit now that was a great 3D animated movie... But then again Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Shwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith make a great voice acting combo... And to anyone who watched it How cute was that wittle lemur? Awwww

Physically fit... Physically Physically Physically fit... I like to move it move it... I like to move it move it... I like to move it move it... You like to? Well you get the point...

    Sidekicks
This movie is awesome. By far the best thing Chuck Norris has done outside of his cameo in Dodgeball. I'm laughing just thinking about the movie.
  • ColersColers August 2005
I've come to realize that the only movies that I really like now adays have Will Ferrel, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, or some mixture of the aforementioned actors.

    Some examples:
    Zoolander
    Old School
    Starsky and Hutch
    Wedding Crashers

Not the only ones for me, but these combinations of theirs rarely fail. Dodgeball is probably the best comedy in years (haven't seen the Wedding Crashers yet) and those other movies are hilarious as well...

i saw sin city it was ok
  • RCSoulRCSoul August 2005
I've seen a bunch of movies lately. These are the one's that I remember though:

    The Wedding Singer
Probably my second favorite Adam Sandler movie. My first, not being one his comedies, Punch Drunk Love.

    Spiderman 2
I really like these movies. That Evil Dead dude did these well.

    Coach Carter
Typical teacher turns students lives around feel good picture with a sports twist. I dig those kinds of movies though, so I dug this one.

    Final Destination
I still think its funny when the girl gets slammed by the bus. Anyone else ever notice that the street is blocked off, so by all accounts the bus going down the street at that speed makes no sense. I would have had to turn from the cross street and everyone knows buses can't turn corners at high speeds.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy
I actually watched this one back with those ones above. I remembered not thinking this movie was that good when I saw it in theaters. I gave it another chance on On Demand and I'm glad I did. I couldn't stop laughing. When the dog gets punted off of the bridge, I nearly died I was laughing so hard. I have to buy this movie.

    Office Space
I love this movie. Hilarious. Definately makes you feel better about your job. Unless of course, your job is a lot like the main character's. Then, it might depress you.

    What Dreams May Come
I brought this one up awhile ago when I was recommending movies to someone. I realized that I really didn't remember a whole from this since I only seen it once and it was a long time ago. So, I picked this one up and it was just as good as I remembered it being.

    Remember the Titans
I had wanted to see this movie when it came out when I was a freshman in college. But, my "friends" back then, knowing perfectly well how much I was looking forward to seeing it, saw it without me. I hate going to the movies by myself, so I didn't see it. I then, just forgot about it, until today, when I decided to finally rent it. Good flick. Typicial sports drama with a race twist, but I did sports dramas. If you do, you should watch it if you haven't already.

    Red Eye
For a movie with such a good initial premise, it quickly turns into a cliched and predictable suspense/thriller. It was okay. I'd wait for video to see this one, if you were looking into it.

Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas
You caught me. I dig animated flicks that are aimed towards children. This one is no different. Pretty good ensemble cast in Brad Pitt, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Angelina Jolie.

  • RCSoulRCSoul August 2005
I watched Donnie Brasco today. I'd never seen it, but didn't see how it could be bad with Al Pacino and Johnny Depp. It wasn't bad at all.

I just threw it in and the CDDB recognised it as a CD and gave me title tracks. That's when you know you are big!
It's quite a collective of music odds and ends. I'll have to listen to it a bit more, but I like Untitled.
Thanks for it though. Another cd to freak my work collegues with.

Are you referring to the CD I sent you? Did you mean to post this in the "Free CDs" thread? If so, you're welcome. And did it give you the correct track names? That would be kind of strange considering it was never released, just thrown together for you guys for no real reason.

Things I might have mentioned on the slip cover that you might find interesting. Season Decay was split into two songs (one with a stronger, less repetitive climax and a reprise to be used later on the record and both with percussion). It really helped pull the rest of the songs together, I think. Jeff also recorded a 3rd Movement that bridged a song called "Contemplating Winter" and "A Beaten Path" (neither of which ever got recorded). "Untitled" was almost definitely not going to be used for anything. There was no way to play it live since there were two guitars and we didn't have a bassist and it wouldn't have been on the record because it really didn't fit with the rest of the songs. But, I'm glad you like it.
