Picked up Deloused and I like it a lot. But, I don't think it's better than El Cielo, In Raindows, or Good Apollo Vol 1. It is an excellent CD though

    Your opinion is wrong.

Your face is wrong. Again, love the album just not as the best of the decade.

    "RCSoul":

Coheed and Cambria - Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness
That title is a mouthful. I think this might be the greatest concept album ever written.

Well, Deloused is a concept album so if Good Apollo is the best concept album then... 8)

Yeah, it might be the greatest concept album ever written... if Deloused was never written.

Just like you to post a top 50 on a top 10 thread. Post whore.

No where does it say it's a top 10 thread. It says, "Best of the Aughts (2000-2009). Aerock did a top 50, too. Just because the rest of you guys are lazy doesn't make me a post whore.

I liked too many records this decade to do a list that was shorter than a top 50. Even with that, I still kind of feel like some good albums deserved to be recognized and maybe I should have done a top 100.
  • elvato87elvato87 July 2010
See, this is why you guys are amazing it took me till almost August just to get a top 25 together. I don't have 50 I was crazy about so here it goes... minus the explanations for the most part b/c I'm way too lazy to do that. I barely got the list done at all.

    25. Circa Survive - Blue Sky Noise.
Dude has a ridiculously high voice but it's a good listen. Heard about them when they opened up for Coheed and Cambria.

Standouts: Get Out, I Felt Free, Frozen Creek, The Longest Mile

    24. Passion Pit - Manners
I don't usually like this kind of music but this album is strangely catchy.

Standouts: Sleepyhead, The Reeling, Little Secrets, Swimming in the Flood

    23. Dredg - Catch Without Arms
This was the first Dredg I ever heard and while most of you won't agree, I think it's an awesome CD.

Standouts: Ode to the Sun, Bug Eyes, Jamais Vu, This Tanbark is Hot Lava

    22. Deftones - White Pony

Standouts: Digital Bath, Passenger, Knife Party

    21. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium

Standouts: Snow, Wet Sand, Hey, Death of a Martain, Hard to Concentrate

    20. Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3

    Standouts: Start to Finsh.
  • elvato87elvato87 July 2010
    19. Midlake - The Trials of Van Occupanther

A sound that seems to blend some of the great old school bands. Concept album.

    18. Depswa - Two Angels and a Dream

Really caught my attention after the second track. It's catchy and I can be in any mood and listen to it. Second CD wasn't very good though.

Standouts: Not Responsible, Prom Song, Silhouette, Where I've Begun, Traveler's Song

    17. Silversun Pickups - Carnavas

Standouts: Well Thought Out Twinkies, Three Seed, Common Reactor.

I only found this album like a few months ago, but I'm liking it a lot so far.

I think it's kind of funny that I introduced you to those guys, but they were 35 on my list and 2 on yours. But, I'm glad you liked them. It always feels good when I get someone into a band. It's why I'm always trying to get people to listen to new music.

There's some stuff on your list that I haven't heard. I haven't heard any Passion Pit, Midlake, or Depswa. If you're not feeling too lazy, I'd like to know a little more about what you think those guys sound like (or anyone who knows any of those guys, I guess).

Haven't heard of the Passion Pit either, but Midlake is definitely worth a check. Can't name a band that they remind me of, but I'd say they're a mix between folk rock and indie pop (I know, that sounds like Fleet Foxes, but really they're not very similar... maybe just a little bit).

Depswa is an old guilty pleasure of mine. That album is the only one I've heard from them, but it has some decent songs on it. They're an alt. metal band with a below average vocalist, yet they somehow make it work enough for me to somewhat enjoy listening to them.
  • elvato87elvato87 July 2010
I am so lazy that I got a dropbox and will send you the music you don't have so that you can check it out. Rob, I facebooked it to you if you haven't seen it.

I don't know who the Fleet Foxes are, but I can dig some indie rock stuff.

The name seems a little nu-metalish, which scares me a bit. I'm a little ambivalent about these guys...

Yeah, I saw and I sent you an invite to my folder. There's so much stuff that friends have sent me that I haven't even listened to. My list is getting crazy long. So far I've got:

    Keith Merrow
    Mew
    Thom Yorke
    Puscifier
    Silversun Pickups
    New Eminem
    New Deftones
    Dr. Dog
    And whatever you're sending me

Ugh, I've got a lot of catching up to do before the year is over. Once, I listen to them, I'll let you know what I think. I'm excited though. I don't actively seek out any new music because I'm lazy/overworked, so I only find new stuff from friends who have a Dropbox now. I'm pretty sure Dropbox was invented for people that are lazy. I love it!

I'm pretty sure I still have The Dear Hunter in my Dropbox. You should check those guys out. Interesting stuff. If Dredg wanted to write music for a Broadway show, it might sound like The Dear Hunter. I've been listening to them a ton lately. They're kind of the reason I'm falling behind with other stuff. Actually, it's pretty much one guy. He plays everything outside of the drums and the orchestral instruments, but he composes their parts. And his mom does some backing vocals.

Well, you should definitely check them out too. I'd recommend them ten times over Midlake, and I like Midlake. Fleet Foxes are awesome.

Sorry, but I lost all my mp3s last month when my hard drive decided to fail. Haven't had the time or the energy to rip my CDs and download the rest all over again. Thankfully there's services like Spotify and Grooveshark that still enable me to listen to most of my favorite artists. I know you can't legally get Spotify in the States, but Grooveshark should work everywhere.

    Try here:

    http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/search/ ... et%20foxes

My personal favorites by them are: Mykonos, Blue Ridge Mountains, Tiger Mountain Peasant Song and Your Protector
