MLB POSTSEASON 2009
  • elvato87elvato87 October 2009
The Dodgers are up 2-0 and I am happy!

So, the Phillies/Rockies game got cancelled again begging the question: Why the hell do baseball teams build outdoor stadiums in cold weather cities? The Twins just built an outdoor one for next year too. How the hell is that supposed to work? This is the second straight year this has happened.

Am I the only one that thinks David Ortiz looks like a steroid pumped Laurence Fishborn?

Whoever built the Rockies stadium is absolutely retarded. No one in their right mind would build a baseball stadium in Colorado that wasn't a dome.

Sorry man, I don't see it. But, I'm one of only two people that thinks that ex-Cardinals QB Josh McCown looks like Ivan Drago. I'm not sure where he is now or even if he's in the NFL anymore.

    I do too.

I googled him and can definitely see the resemblance.

Hmm, the spell checker on my browser doesn't recognize "googled". Such a common word these days, especially on the internet... you'd think they'd add it.

I google "Josh McCown Ivan Drago" and found this: http://www.raiderfans.net/forum/1921593-post14.html So, there might be in upwards of 7 people who think Josh McCown looks like Ivan Drago. It's like a grassroots movement.

In baseball related talk, The Phils are the only team that didn't sweep, but no one else had the luxury of drawing the hottest team in baseball in the DS. Hopefully, they can end this tonight and get some rest before the NLCS starts this Thursday. I like their chances against the Dodgers if they finish off the Rockies tonight. Otherwise, I'm worried about our pen being overworked and tired for the series.

We'll see how it goes. Phili isn't as strong as a year ago. The Dodgers have a puncher's chance.

Offensively, the Phils are definitely better than last year. The problem this year is our bullpen is not the shutdown group it was last year, as was already shown in Game 2. We'll see what happens in Game 4. If the Phils win it, I think they close out the series in 5. If they lose, I think this one is going 7 games. These teams are pretty evenly matched and clearly the best two teams in the NL, so I won't be too disappointed if my Phils drop this series. As a Philadelphia sports fan, you always have to be prepared for your teams to fail.

The Phillies have a shot to truly defend their title against probably the Yankees. I like their chances in the series. They've already played in interleague play and were a blown Lidge save away from taking all 3 from them in New York. I don't expect the Phils to sweep and I don't think it's a certainty that they win, but I think they've got a better chance than most are going to give them.

I'm rooting for Philly even though Jamie Moyer isn't able to pitch. He'll still get a ring, right?
  • elvato87elvato87 October 2009
I want the Philadelphia Cole Hamelses to beat the fuck out of the Yankees, but I think the Yanks are going to be tough to beat. I don't know that Phili will beat them, but I'll be cheering for them the whole way.

I'm pretty sure you can get a ring even if you're not on the postseason roster.

We'll see. It's probably going to be a tough series. I think if the Phils can take at least one of the first two in New York and at least 2 out of three in Philly, they've got a good shot. I can't see either team winning the series in less than 6 games.

3-1 Yankees. I'm so pissed. Fuck the Yankees. Why not pitch Cliff Lee in game 4? There really is no logical explanation not to.

Cliff Lee has never pitched on 3 days rest in his career and he just pitched a complete game in which he threw around 130 pitches. Blanton has pitched in the World Series before and pitched well. Makes sense to me.

This series is over. Maybe the Phils can win this next Cliff Lee start and maybe they can win a Pedro start, but they're definitely not winning a Cole Hamels start. Dude is mentally checked out.
  • RCSoulRCSoul November 2009
I read somewhere that they might be starting J.A. Happ instead of Cole Hamels if it goes to a 7th game. Cliff Lee could probably pitch out of the pen in long relief if they need him in that game. We'll see if they can get another win in NY and stay alive.

I hate the fucking Yankees so much...
  • RCSoulRCSoul November 2009
I can't say I hate the Yankees. This is the first time that my Phils have played them in games that matter and they were clearly the better team. They spent all of that money on CC, Burnett, and Teixeira and it worked out for them. I wish my Phils had $206 million to buy a World Series.
