What's the signifcance of the text in the picture? An internet joke i missed?

Dude just died over last weekend. He's supposedly a famous television salesperson here in the States, but I didn't know who he was. I don't watch enough infomercials.

There was a similar image before he died that said "YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH WHEN BILLY MAYS IS TALKING"

In his infomercials he would pretty much yell the entire time, so there were a lot of things like that going around about how loud he was. He also just finished the first season of a show called "Pitchmen" that was basically a reality show about making the infomercials. Now it's kind of creepy to watch knowing he just died randomly.

i just saw one of his commercials for oxiclean last night. kinda creepy.

I don't remember ever seeing that commercial either. I rarely watch commercials. I tend to change the channel during them, or ignore them and do something else. Most of the TV that I watch is DVR'd and I fast-forward through them.
